Matthew Viriyapah is one of KOSU summer 2019 interns. He graduated with degrees in Professional Writing and Economics with a minor in Japanese from the University of Oklahoma in the spring of 2019. While there, he also interned at KGOU for a semester, was a member of the World Literature Today Student Advisory Board, and hosted a show called Varied Very on the student radio station.

He likes reading, writing, and supporting local music. Besides just playing video games, he also writes about them at Sooner Esports.

Matthew Viriyapah interviewed Tripsitters, an indie rock trio hailing from Norman, Oklahoma. Like many musical outfits from Norman, the group formed while two of the members, Michael and Jeremiah had attended the University of Oklahoma. Eventually the drummer, Logan, moved down from Tulsa and the three have been together ever since.

Quinn Christopherson, winner of this year's Tiny Desk competition hails from Anchorage, Alaska and is currently on tour with Portugal. The Man. Performing at the Criterion on Friday, July 19, Quinn spoke to Matthew Viriyapah over the phone while he arrived in Oklahoma City for the very first time alongside his musical partner, Nick Carpenter.

In this interview, Quinn Christopherson talks about being on the road and how being indigenous informs his music while Nick can be heard occasionally chiming in and laughing along.

Colourmusic's latest album, Swimsuit, marks a return for the band, who after a hiatus have played a string of live performances this year with another show happening tonight at Tower Theatre with Broncho and Deerpeople.

KOSU intern Matthew Viriyapah interviewed Oklahoma City indie musician Kat Lock earlier this year when she only had one single, "Hard to Find." Formerly of the band, St. Basic, Lock has been striking out on her own for the past year. Now, her first EP, You Again, is set to come out, with another possibly on the horizon for 2019.
