Changes are coming to KOSU and The Spy's program schedule in March 2018. Here's what you need to know about the program changes and when to listen.
SATURDAYS AT 9PM
We'll welcome a new show to our schedule, beginning this Saturday. About What You’d Expect is a weekly radio show from Tower Theatre in Oklahoma City. Host Chad Whitehead takes the Tower’s office playlist and boils it down to a one-hour program. Mostly new, mostly indie, it’s about what you’d expect. The show will fill a previously empty slot at 9pm on Saturdays.
SUNDAYS AT 5PM
Tune In Tulsa, the locally-produced interview and music show, will go on temporary hiatus during the month of March. But fear not, as they'll return on Sunday, April 1st with a new season of the show.
Temporarily taking it's place will be The Guestlist, a weekly interview show hosted by Sean Cannon. The show features guest DJ sets with musicians, comedians, actors, authors, such as Steve Burns, David Bazan, Jason Isbell, Wayne Coyne, and more.
SUNDAYS AT 6PM
TJ Mayes has decided to end his show Okie Vintage Vinyl on Sunday, March 11th. We wish him well.
Taking its spot will be that national music show Folk Alley. KOSU listeners are familiar with the program, which plays the best in traditional and contemporary folk, Americana and roots music. After a couple weeks of special shows, Folk Alley will air beginning Sunday, April 1st.
SUNDAYS AT 7PM
Juke Joint Jenni has also decided to bring her show to a close. Juke Joint Revival is one of The Spy's longest running shows, joining the airwaves more than eight years ago. The last show will be Sunday, March 25.
Taking its place will be Oklahoma Rock Show: Rewind, which will delve into Oklahoma's musical past, focusing on themes (Singing Cowboys, Power Pop, The Tulsa Sound), deep-diving into Oklahoma music icons, and revisiting classic Oklahoma albums. The show will span all eras and all genres, bringing to light forgotten treasures and triggering musical memories. The show will launch on Sunday, April 1st.
SUNDAYS AT 10PM
The garage and psychedelic rock program Freakbeat will retire this Sunday night. Host Kenworth recently made the decision to end the show, after seven years on The Spy. We wish him the best!
We hope you'll enjoy these new shows and, as always, we welcome your feedback!
Thank you for listening to and supporting KOSU.
