An Oklahoma City union is the second group of Apple Store workers in the country to ratify a contract with the tech giant.

Following a strike authorization last month, union-represented workers at the Oklahoma City Apple store in Penn Square Mall have reached a tentative labor contract with the tech giant.

Apple unveiled new models of its iPhone, AirPods and Apple Watch — most of which will be available in stores later this month.

The Apple store in the Baltimore suburb of Towson was the first in the U.S. to unionize. The contract agreement must be approved by roughly 85 employees there. A vote is scheduled for Aug. 6.

The controversial practice dates back to the 1990s when Apple introduced a service called Watson that critics say ripped off another company’s tool. Since then, small apps have said it has become a pattern.

Apple has announced a much-anticipated partnership with OpenAI, the maker of ChatGPT. The deal to bring AI features to iPhones and other devices is a major move for Apple, which has been slower than some competitors to jump on the AI bandwagon.

Android users have long complained that texting someone with an iPhone on iMessage is an unpleasant experience. The Justice Department argues it is also an example of anti-competitive behavior.

The federal government accuses Apple of using its monopoly power to stomp out competitors and keep customers from switching phones.

Apple muzzled streaming services from telling users about payment options on their websites, which avoids a 30% fee charged when people pay through apps downloaded with the iOS App Store, the EU said.

The tech giant's sudden move took the thousands of employees working on the effort by surprise and sent a jolt to the automotive industry, which was closely watching the specter of an Apple car.
