Update: Oklahoma Department of Corrections has updated their COVID case numbers since this was first posted. The new numbers are reflected below.
As of Tuesday morning, 362 state prisoners have tested positive for COVID-19 in the past week.
Dick Conner Correctional Center in Hominy and Mabel Bassett Correctional Center in McLoud are reporting the most cases. There have also been large outbreaks at Joseph Harp Correctional Center in Lexington and Davis Correctional Facility – a private prison in Holdenville.
Prison systems in other states found hundreds more COVID cases after expanding testing to include every person inside their buildings.
Oklahoma Department of Corrections data indicates that since the beginning of the pandemic, around 470 prisoners and 115 corrections employees have tested positive for COVID-19.
145 prisoners have caught the disease and recovered.
