Oklahoma Universities And Colleges Drop Masking, Social Distancing Requirements

On Wednesday, two state schools announced they will end their mask and social distancing requirements for vaccinated individuals.

The University of Oklahoma dropped their requirements, but is still requiring masks for anyone using transit buses and within its health and research facilities. People who haven't been vaccinated and those under the age of 12, who aren't yet cleared to be vaccinated, are also still required to wear a mask while on OU's campuses.

The University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond is also no longer requiring vaccinated individuals to wear masks.

The requirement changes come after the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention released guidance last week that fully vaccinated people no longer need to wear a mask or physically distance in any setting, except where required by the government, business or workplace.

Shortly after that was announced, Oklahoma State University lifted its masking and social distancing requirements for anyone on its campuses. But, masks will still need to be worn on transit buses and in certain areas of University Health Services.
