In a ceremony Monday, Oklahoma certified its seven electoral votes for President Donald Trump.
The Associated Press had called Oklahoma for Trump within minutes of its polls closing on election night. And the state had unofficial tallies showing Trump’s victory within hours. Governor Kevin Stitt said states that took weeks to tabulate their votes should take note.
“They need to take some hints from Oklahoma’s elections,” said Stitt.
Of course, those states had snags created by Republican-led legislatures making mail in ballots difficult to count quickly. Oklahoma had tallied nearly all of its record 1.6 million votes within 24 hours.
But, Stitt did acknowledge that after all the counting, President-elect Joe Biden won the election. The acknowledgment comes after more than a month of legal maneuvering that recently included a failed attempt to throw out ballots in swing states by a number of Attorneys General including Oklahoma’s Mike Hunter.
