Oklahoma City Mayor Mick Cornett described success by GOP municipal leaders during the first day of the Republican National Convention Monday afternoon in Cleveland.
Cornett said Republicans hold the top jobs from San Diego to Miami, including Oklahoma’s two largest cities. He said Republicans have held the Oklahoma City mayor’s seat for 29 consecutive years.
"Is it any wonder then that the Kauffman Foundation named Oklahoma City as the most entrepreneurial city in the country, with the most startups per capita? And one of the nation’s lowest unemployment rates?” Cornett said.
Throughout the country, Cornett said his colleagues are restoring the middle class and creating high-paying jobs to attract the next generation of workers.
“We are building cities where Millennials are choosing to live," Cornett said. "We’re investing in public safety, and streets, and parks. We are helping to restore confidence in America.”
Cornett spoke at the convention in Cleveland on behalf of the U.S. Conference of Mayors. He’s became the organization’s president last month, having spent the prior year as the group’s vice president.
