Chambers Waives Hearing in Deadly Oklahoma Parade Crash

Stillwater Police Department
Adacia Avery Chambers

A woman charged with killing four people and injuring dozens of others after crashing her car into spectators at the Oklahoma State University homecoming parade has waived her right to a preliminary hearing.

Payne County court records show 25-year-old Adacia Chambers was advised of her rights on Tuesday. She then waived her right to a preliminary hearing, which determines whether there is sufficient evidence that a crime occurred and probable cause the defendant committed it.

Chambers is charged with four counts of second-degree murder and more than 40 counts of assault and battery in the Oct. 24 crash that prosecutors say was intentional.

Defense attorney Tony Coleman has said Chambers is mentally ill. He didn't immediately return messages left with him Tuesday seeking further comment.
