A few weeks after federal regulators signed off on Pfizer boosters, the Moderna and Johnson & Johnson vaccines have gotten approval.
The Oklahoma State Department of Health announced Monday that its vaccine portal will offer booster appointments for all three brands, effective immediately.
Federal guidance says those who got the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines should wait six months after the first round of shots to get their booster. Pfizer and Moderna boosters are recommended for the following groups:
- age 65 years and older
- age 18 years and older who live in long-term care settings, have underlying medical conditions, or work or live in high-risk settings.
Those who got the Johnson & Johnson can get theirs as little as two months after their initial dose. It is available to anyone aged 18 years and older who initially received a dose from Johnson & Johnson.
Oklahomans can also schedule COVID-19 booster vaccines, regardless of which brand they initially received. The CDC is supporting a mix-and-match approach to booster vaccination if the person's initial vaccine isn't available or a different vaccine is preferred by that person.
The state vaccination portal is available at vaccinate.ok.gov.
