Celebrate a month of reading and learning together with a 1930s style community picnic with games and dancing. Enjoy live Western swing music courtesy of Oklahoma's state swing band, Oklahoma Swing. Bring a picnic lunch and a blanket or lawn chairs to sit on. The library will provide drinks and pie.
This event is a part of “Stillwater Reads,” the Stillwater Public Library’s eleventh community-wide reading series taking place during September 2025. The featured books include “Listen” by Sheldon Russell, for adults, and “Nowhere Better Than Here” by Sarah Guillory, for youth (recommended for grades 4-7). Readers interested in participating can pick up a free copy of the books starting August 18 (while supplies last). Adults must sign up to attend a book discussion to get a free copy of “Listen.”
“Stillwater Reads” is funded by the Friends of the Stillwater Public Library. Books are provided courtesy of the Amazon Think Big program. Additional support is provided by the Oklahoma State University Library, the Oklahoma Historical Society, Block 34, Meridian Technology Center, and Stillwater Public Schools.

Dope Poetry Night at the Ice Event Center Bar and Grill is every Wednesday night, hosted by PraVurb, J. Wiggins, and DJ D. Chappell. Show starts at 7:30 pm; Sign-ups begin at 7 pm, and the show begins at 8 pm. First 20 poets.

Aliens, skin walkers, humanoids, and other mythological creatures...maybe you've seen em? With spooky season upon us, we invite y'all to gather around and share stories about your creature encounters. Join us at Rodeo Cinema in Stockyards City for an evening of stories about all creatures, great and small, creepy and cuddly. This OKC StorySLAM will be followed by a special featured movie; admission required, and the ticket includes the double-feature of the SLAM and a movie!The OKC StorySLAM is an open-mic storytelling event. Participants are invited to tell a story in seven minutes or less, relating to the theme for each event. Stories must be true (or as best remembered by the storyteller) and told without the use of notes. All participating storytellers can sign up to tell their story at the beginning of the evening. Prizes will be awarded to the best stories. This OKC StorySLAM is part of our 2025 tour of slams around OKC, celebrating 20 years of the OKC StorySLAM!
