Chris El Bandito

Chris El Bandito was the host of Juke Joint Revival from 2021 to 2023.

I started with The Spy October 31, 2021. That's right folks — Halloween night. Definitely fitting for me... 'tis my favorite holiday. I'm new to radio, this be my first time casting my voice box across the airwaves and I must say I quite love it. I love playing tunes for people and opening their ears to music they may have never heard, and hopefully they dig it.

I'm a jack of all trades, master of none. I have worked as an electrician, but my current means of income is working in the signage industry. And of course, I play guitar unprofessionally and sometimes professionally. You may have seen me grace the stages of The Blue Note, Lost Highway, and your local parking lot. I hope to play many more parking lots in the future, and maybe some stages.

Gretsch guitars, echo, Tremolo, and tube amps are my weapons of choice. My guitar heroes are Link Wray, Django Reinhardt, Grady Martin, and Poison Ivy Rorschach. My favorite guitar riff is on Johnny Powers' song "Long Blonde Hair," with Stan Getz playing that sweet riff. Music of all type really gets my innards going, but my one true love is vintage sounds, and new sounds that sound vintage.

Cool fact about me: I was born in the border town of Laredo, Tejas.
