Panel Discussion | Black Contemporary Creative Practices in Oklahoma
Panel Discussion | Black Contemporary Creative Practices in Oklahoma
Presenting a local panorama of contemporary Black creative practices, this panel discussion will draw on Dr. Autumn Brown’s current oral history research. Dr. Brown documents the stories and practices of Tulsa-based Black artists to demonstrate the presence of Black contemporary art in Oklahoma. Discussion topics will delve into themes that connect with the content presented in "Memories and Inspiration: The Kerry and C. Betty Davis Collection of African American Art." On view at the OSU Museum of Art through May 11, 2024, this exhibition celebrates the passion of an ordinary couple who spent more than 35 years as devoted connoisseurs, building a collection of vivid artworks that are both resonant and remarkably personal.
