All About Eclipses

All About Eclipses

To celebrate the upcoming total solar eclipse, the Stillwater Public Library will host two in-person eclipse-related programs, one for adults on Thursday, March 28, at 7:30 p.m., and one for kids and teens on Friday, March 29, at 1 p.m.

The first program, “All About Eclipses,” is geared toward adults and teens 16 and older and will occur on Thursday, March 28, at 7:30 p.m. Dr. Kim Zoldak, teaching assistant professor of physics at Oklahoma State University, will give a presentation. Zoldak will discuss why eclipses are only possible twice a year, why solar eclipses are rarer to observe than lunar eclipses and other eclipse-related topics. Dr. Zoldak will also lead a star-viewing session at 8:30 p.m. in the library’s courtyard, weather permitting.

Participants must register and be present at solar eclipse programs to get a free pair of glasses, which librarians will distribute at the end of each program. The library encourages families to share glasses when possible. Individuals cannot get more than one pair. Learn more about the library’s eclipse programs and register at stillwaterok.gov/LibraryEclipse.
