Black Republican strategist Shermichael Singleton announced on Twitter this weekend that he's leaving the party.

On July 4, Singleton tweeted that he’s been associated with the GOP since middle school when he started a chapter of the Teenage Republican Society. He contemplated the decision to split with the party for two and a half years before deciding he doesn't support President Trump.

President Trump, in a speech Friday at Mount Rushmore that lasted more than 40 minutes, focused on statues and "cancel culture" and accused his political opponents of fascism. But he spared just a few words for the pandemic that has killed 130,000 Americans, thanking "the doctors, nurses and scientists working tirelessly to kill the virus." And that was it.

On the eve of Independence Day, President Trump celebrated at the foot of Mount Rushmore National Memorial in Keystone, S.D., with a fireworks display and an impassioned speech against what he called a "new far-left fascism."

It's hard to know what's most notable about the Colorado Republican primary upset that ousted Rep. Scott Tipton on Tuesday night.

Jacksonville, Fla., is now requiring people to wear face masks while indoors and in public spaces where they can't stay 6 feet away from other people, hoping to slow a spike in coronavirus cases.

"Every person over the age of six (6) who is in a public space shall wear a face mask or covering when not able to engage in social distancing," the mandate states.

President Donald Trump was in Tulsa Saturday night for his first campaign rally since the coronavirus shut down much of the nation. Turnout was far lower than expected, and only minor arguments and impassioned chants occurred when rally-goers and racial justice protesters met in the streets.

Fresh off a rally in Tulsa, Okla., in which nearly two-thirds of the arena was empty, President Trump on Tuesday addressed a crowd of student supporters at a tightly packed megachurch in Phoenix, amid the state's growing number of confirmed cases of the coronavirus.

On Saturday, President Trump will take the stage at the BOK Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma, for his first campaign rally since the coronavirus pandemic began. The event has drawn criticism for being racially insensitive and for drawing huge crowds at a time when Tulsa’s COVID-19 cases are spiking.
