The Recording Academy announced its 2021 Grammy nominations on Tuesday, with Beyonce, rising pop star Dua Lipa and stoner superstar Post Malone leading a diffuse field.

Beyonce features on two songs in the record of the year category, which essentially rewards the year's best single: the remix of Megan Thee Stallion's "Savage" and her own "Black Parade." The latter was also nominated for song of the year, which is awarded to the winner's songwriters.

In a new video for the slinky, jazz-rooted BADBADNOTGOOD song "Lavender," a character named "Ronald Klump," a satirical Donald Trump stand-in, is the victim of a Looney Tunes-ian "BANG," fired by Snoop Dogg. (The video is also heavy on Snoop's favorite subject, the continuous ingestion of pot.)

Ryan Drake's Top 20 Songs of 2016

Dec 20, 2016

State of the Art and The Dates of Our Lives host Ryan Drake shares his 20 favorite songs of 2016:

20. Charlie XCX ft. Lil Yachty - "After The Afterparty"

I don’t believe in guilty pleasures but I do believe that I am ashamed of how many times I have listened to this song in the last two months. (Also I love/hate the way she says “baby” in the first verse. I can’t explain myself.)

This is Sample Size, our weekly new music feature with KOSU's Ryan LaCroix and LOOKatOKC music critic Matt Carney.

Today, Matt plays new music from Kaytranada, A Giant Dog, and Leonard Cohen.
