A Los Angeles jury rejected a lawsuit seeking $55 million by the widow of a former USC football player who said the NCAA failed to protect him from repeated head trauma that led to his death.

Attorneys for the alleged victims say the cases date back as far as the late 1990s, with the latest occurring in 2018. The terms of the settlement were not disclosed.

Lincoln Riley is out as OU’s head football coach.

Added to a separate 2018 settlement of $215 million, the agreement means the university is paying more than $1 billion to clear the lawsuits related to former campus gynecologist George Tyndall.

Laura Janke had previously denied taking bribes for writing the phony biographies, but she is now the fourth corrupt coach to plead guilty. She's expected to testify against others in the case.
