The TSA found 6,301 firearms in carry-on bags, most of which were loaded, in 2022.

The 11-year-old vizsla-Labrador mix screened passengers at a Minnesota airport and helped with security at major sporting events. He celebrated his last day at work with toys, cake and pets.

The monthlong extension comes as the CDC said it would work on a "revised policy framework for when, and under what circumstances, masks should be required in the public transportation corridor."

Congress told the Transportation Security Administration and airlines in 2018 to improve air travel for people with disabilities. But TSA data and stories from flyers suggest little has improved.

TSA agents found 3,257 firearms in carry-on bags at airport security checkpoints in 2020 — about 10 per million travelers. About 83% of those firearms were loaded, a TSA news release said.

The traveler, who said he is an active member of the U.S. military, told authorities the Griffin rocket launcher was a memento from Kuwait, according to the Transportation Security Administration.
