Florida Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis' flexed his power this week in Tallahassee as lawmakers okayed the governor's controversial redistricting plan and curbed Disney's special jurisdiction.

Florida's Republican governor, Ron DeSantis, has asked lawmakers to consider a bill that would halt Disney World's exemptions to state regulations that were established more than 50 years ago.

Walt Disney secretly bought 40 square miles of land in the Sunshine State, then unveiled plans that would reshape the theme park industry and central Florida.

After 117 days being closed, Disney World welcomed guests back to its Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom parks. Masks and temperature checks were required, as well as reservations.

The popular theme parks will open their doors in the next few weeks and say they're planning to keep guests and employees as safe as possible.

An Alabama man was arrested for camping at an abandoned island at Disney World. He said he was unaware he was trespassing and called the island a "tropical paradise."

Orlando is one of the most popular U.S. destinations, with more than 66 million visitors last year. Tourism officials hope the shooting attack won't deter people from coming to its theme parks.
