Oklahoma City's professional soccer team has decided against playing next season.

Friday's announcement comes after Energy FC was notified that Oklahoma City Public Schools plans to upgrade the infrastructure at Taft Stadium, where the team's matches are played.

The construction includes removal of the artificial turf playing surface, replacement of the surrounding track and addition of new stadium lights.

A MAPS 4-funded multipurpose outdoor stadium will be the future home of the club, but construction of that facility is still several years away.

Energy FC says it will issue refunds for season seat holders, while planning to return to the pitch in 2023.
