Visitation At Oklahoma Prisons Set To Resume

OKLAHOMA DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS

Starting April 1, Oklahoma state prisoners will be allowed to see visitors again. Visitation has been suspended since September 2020 to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Prisoner and staff vaccinations are the reason the Department of Corrections feels more comfortable allowing visitors. The agency began staff vaccinations in January and recently announced they would begin giving prisoners the shots this month.

The agency’s director Scott Crow is encouraging everyone who plans to visit prisoners to get vaccinated too.

Visits will be offered multiple days a week for up to two hours, but social distancing precautions will still apply.
