facebook.com/okcpridefest

For the first time in history, Oklahoma City officially recognizes Pride Week to celebrate with the LGBTQ+ community.

KOSU's Michael Cross got a chance to talk with Allie Shinn, Executive Director of Freedom Oklahoma, a statewide advocacy group.

Shinn says she's incredibly excited about all the events planned for this week.

Oklahoma City Pride Week ends with a day long celebration at Lost Lakes Entertainment Beach, near Northeast 10th and Bryant on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

You can find out more on the web at OklahomaCityPride.org or on Facebook.

Michael Cross is the host of KOSU's Morning Edition.
