For the second day in a row, Oklahoma health officials reported a record number of new COVID-19 cases.
225 new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed on Saturday, bringing the total positive cases in the state to 8,073. No additional deaths were reported, as the state's total remains at 359.
There have been 1,014 new cases of COVID-19 in the past week in Oklahoma, for an average of 144 per day.
Tulsa County accounts for 153 of the new cases, or 68 percent. On Friday, the Tulsa Health Department reported new cases in Tulsa County were linked to "indoor gatherings, which large groups of people congregated in close contact for prolonged periods of time."
Tulsa County has 429 active cases, while Oklahoma County has 214, McCurtain County has 68 and Payne County has 51.
On Friday, Oklahoma Gov. Kevin Stitt amended an executive order to allow resuming visitations to long-term care facilities & nursing homes in a phased approach starting on Monday.
6,495 people — more than 80 percent of the total cases — have since been classified as having recovered from the virus. 149 Oklahomans are currently hospitalized as either confirmed positive COVID-19 cases or under investigation for the virus.
