Oklahoma Officials Urge Local Elections To Reschedule

Mar 18, 2020

The Oklahoma State Election Board declared an election emergency today, in light of the coronavirus pandemic.

State Election Board Secretary Paul Ziriax says he is strongly urging school districts, municipalities, technology districts and 74 counties with elections on April 7th to immediately reschedule to help efforts to flatten the COVID-19 curve.

The office says those elections could potentially be rescheduled to June 30, which is the next available election date and the date of the State Primary Election.

Ziriax says voters who have questions about whether or not an election will be rescheduled are encouraged to contact the local government that scheduled the election.
