Last Friday, Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt decided against appealing a U.S. District Court Judge's ruling that said compacts between the state and the tribes renewed on January 1st of this year.
"While I have chosen not to appeal this decision, I believe that the people of Oklahoma will demand a fair deal that benefits all 4 million Oklahomans," Stitt said in a statement.
Judge Timothy De Guisti handed down the ruling in late July putting an end to a months-long dispute between several tribes and the governor over the state's gaming compacts.
Stitt maintained that these compacts were negotiable and was asking for a higher percentage of exclusivity rates tribes pay to the state.
Earlier this year, Stitt entered into gaming agreements with four other tribes. Two of those agreements have since been deemed invalid by the Oklahoma Supreme Court.
