Oklahoma City Thunder Select Terrance Ferguson in NBA Draft

Jun 23, 2017

The Oklahoma City Thunder stayed pat with their lone draft pick on Thursday.

With the 21st pick, OKC selected Terrance Ferguson, a 19-year-old shooting guard that played professional basketball in Australia last season, in lieu of attending college.

Thunder General Manager Sam Presti hailed Ferguson as a knockdown three-point shooter and an athletic wing defender who can cover multiple positions.

"This guy, he competes, so I don’t want to put any limitations on him. He makes shots, and has great length and speed. Generally those are things that are valued in our building."

It's a bit of a homecoming for the 6'7," 184-pounder. He was born in Tulsa, then moved to Dallas for high school. Later facing academic eligibility questions from the NCAA, Ferguson decided to not attend the University of Arizona and instead headed to Australia to play professionally for the Adelaide 36ers.

Ferguson averaged 4.6 points, 1.2 rebounds, and 0.6 assists per game for the 36ers.
