Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon Postpones 2021 Event Due To COVID-19

okcmarathon.com

Officials at the Oklahoma City National Memorial and Museum have announced that the Memorial Marathon will postpone their 2021 event due to COVID-19 concerns.

The event normally held in April will now be postponed to the weekend of October 2nd and 3rd.

The 2020 event was also postponed due to COVID-19 concerns, but was held virtually. Organizers say the decision for next year's race was made in hopes that a delay will reduce the impact of the pandemic and increase the likelihood of having the race in person.

The 2021 event will be space over two days to allow for additional distancing. Saturday, October 2nd will feature the Half Maraton, 5K and Kids Marathon, while the Marathon and Relay will be held on Sunday, October 3rd. Race officials also say they're considering added a bike rice.

The event is normally held in April to honor those killed in the 1995 Murrah Federal Building Bombing.
