NASA Administrator Jim Bridenstine says he will not serve under President-elect Joe Biden's administration.
Aviation Week reports the former Oklahoma Congressman stressed his exit from the agency is not for partisan reasons, but because the position calls for someone who is trusted by the president and their administration.
The Republican was nominated by President Donald Trump to head NASA in 2018. Prior to that, he represented Oklahoma’s First Congressional District since 2012.
His biggest project has been spearheading NASA’s Artemis program, which aims to send the first woman to the Moon by 2024.
Before being elected to congress, Bridenstine served in the Navy and directed the Tulsa Air and Space Museum and Planetarium. He says he currently has no plans on what he'll pursue after stepping down.
