Muscogee (Creek) Nation Providing Food To Citizens In Need

The Muscogee (Creek) Nation will give away nearly 4,000 meals in advance of the Thanksgiving holiday.

More than 100 volunteers at eight drive-thru locations (Bristow, Dewar, Eufaula, Holdenville, Muskogee, Okemah, Okmulgee and Tulsa.) will give out groceries and a 12-15 pound turkey to tribal citizens who are in need during the holiday season.

The food drive will take place on Thursday, Nov. 19. Detailed information can be found here.

This is the second food giveaway the Nation will host with help from CARES Act funds. In October, nearly 3,000 families got bags of fresh produce, canned goods and other items.

Muscogee (Creek) Nation's Tourism and Recreation's manager Ryan Logan said the groceries are a way to help citizens who are having to make some tough decisions this holiday season.

"These are really uncertain times right now," Logan said. "One thing that is essential is food. And, I've had a lot of people say that out of all the years, this is going to make a huge difference."

Muscogee Creek Nation will do a third food giveaway in December.
