Muscogee (Creek) Nation received their first doses of the COVID-19 vaccine on Wednesday.Dr. Kathryn Zackery was one of the first to receive the Pfizer vaccine at the Sapulpa Indian Health Center. She said she was on the fence about getting it, but did some research and says she trusts the science behind it.

"I would encourage everyone to get the vaccine. because it can help us move forward and to get back on track to some sense of normalcy," said Zackery.

Until then, she wants people to continue to wear their mask, social distance and wash their hands. The vaccine won't be available to the general public until sometime in 2021.

Muscogee (Creek) Nation received more than 400 doses of the vaccine on Wednesday and plans to start administering more doses to frontline healthcare workers on Thursday.
