Free Comic Book Day Is Coming

This Saturday, May the Fourth, comic fans are celebrating Free Comic Book Day.

As in years past, New World Comics in northwest Oklahoma City is holding a 24-hour party from nine o’clock Saturday morning until 9 o’clock Sunday morning.

Owner Buck Berlin says Free Comic Book Day 2019 includes 52 different titles with at least one from the major publishers.

“Image is choosing to reprint Spawn number 1. Marvel is going with Spider-Man Comic and an Avengers Comic whereas DC is going a little different, and they’re trying to promote their young adult reading novels.”

Other noteworthy offerings feature characters from Netflix's Stranger Things, The CW's Riverdale and Disney's Descendants.

Young comic book fans might enjoy Casper’s Spookville, featuring Casper the Friendly Ghost, and Go Fish, a fun graphic issue inspired by the popular card game.

The 24-hour event at New World Comics features a sidewalk sale, free artist sketches and costumed comic book characters.
