CVS Health Rolls Out Coronavirus Vaccine To Oklahoma's Long-Term Care Facilities

CVS Health Newsroom

Oklahomans in long-term care facilities are some of the most vulnerable to COVID-19. In the state’s vaccination plan, the groups are prioritized as some of the first to be vaccinated.

CVS Health recently launched a COVID-19 vaccination program for long-term care facilities. Beginning this week, CVS Pharmacy teams will administer the first doses of the vaccine in 12 states – including Oklahoma.

“What we’ll do is send teams in. They’ll have full protective equipment, so called PPE and have the vaccines with them. And go in and vaccinate all the people who work in the Long-Term Care facilities as well as all the people who have consented to have the vaccinations who are patients there,” said Dr. Troy Brennan, the Executive Vice President and Chief Medical Officer for CVS Health.

Those teams will then return two more times to complete the second shot of the vaccine and vaccinate anyone new to the system.

In Oklahoma alone, the vaccines will be made available to more than 27,000 people in 176 nursing homes and assisted living facilities.
