Celebrating Music Made By Black Oklahomans

Terry Farris

From guitar wizard Charlie Christian to James Brown's "chicken scratch" guitarist Jimmy Nolen and the legendary GAP Band to pop songwriting powerhouse Ester Dean, Black musicians from Oklahoma have contributed greatly to the music landscape.

In an effort to shine a brighter light on Black musicians from Oklahoma, we asked two Spy hosts — Don Data of No One Man and Jabee of Grand Union Radio — to curate a playlist.

  • Add the playlist to your library: click here and tap the heart button.

In the playlist, you'll find 25 soul, pop, rock, jazz, R&B and hip-hop songs that will be your soundtrack for more than 90 minutes. Enjoy and please share.
