KOSU will participate in the first-ever Public Radio Music Day on Thursday, April 16, joining fellow noncommercial music stations, performers, and fans across the country to recognize public radio’s essential community service and unique role in the music world locally and nationally.
KOSU and The Spy will honor the occasion on-air with more than a dozen Oklahoma musicians recording songs from their home studios. For two hours on Thursday (7-9 p.m.), we’ll play those mini-sets on-air.
Featured performers are: Beau Jennings, Maddie Razook, Noah Engh, Ken Pomeroy, The Annie Oakley, John Calvin Abney, Kinsey Charles, Levi Parham, Kaitlin Butts, Andy Adams, Zach Winters, Carter Sampson, Stephen Salewon, Ali Harter, Chase Kerby, Taylor Rapp and Johnny Manchild!
More than 20 million listeners tune in weekly to hundreds of local public radio music stations like KOSU across America to discover, learn about, and enjoy a mix of music selections, artists, and genres that are, in many cases, available only on public radio. Announced this past February with the introduction of bipartisan Congressional Resolutions, Public Radio Music Day was created to raise awareness about public radio’s contributions to audiences, artists, and communities.
Although the COVID-19 pandemic caused us to postpone our scheduled live event, KOSU is proud to move forward with Public Radio Music Day and continue engaging music fans, artists and musicians through their virtual spaces.
