Black Joe Lewis and The Honeybears are coming to Oklahoma City at Tower Theatre on Saturday, December 14.

It's been ten years since their first album, Tell 'Em What Your Name Is!, and the raucous blues-influenced musician, Joe Lewis thought and reflected a bit about the last ten years and the future, with a few curses in between. While he spoke, he kept his young eight-month-old daughter nearby, trying to spend as much time with her before leaving on another tour stint.

Hear the interview above and read the highlights below.

On the ten years since their first album

It's my biggest album but probably my least favorite one

I'm just better now as a musician and the band's better. And I have more full control over what I'm doing now. I think that we've done good to be here ten years later. I think that's a pretty good accomplishment in itself.

On his daughter

Like right now, I'm just sitting here and she's spinning and doing 360s in my arms. It's a little bit tougher—got to be a little more dedicated with finding time to do your work. They just take all your time.

It definitely makes it harder to leave, 'cause you just miss your kid and you want to be there for her.

She's got a lot of energy. I want her to do whatever she wants to do.

On the future

All you can do is go out and do what you like to do. And hopefully put all your energy into it and then see what happens. It's too hard to tell what's going to happen tomorrow in this business.

We were talking about going in and try to work on some new stuff to put out for the coming year. We were gonna go in and put a full length next year at some point.

We're kind of like Rush... where it's like a heavy male audience, which is fine. And we always sell out of XL shirts first.

You can more information on his show in Oklahoma City here. Liz Brasher will also be playing.
