Northeast Oklahoma has been hazy lately and now, state environmental officials have issued an air quality advisory.
About a dozen counties in northeast Oklahoma are under the advisory, with a warning to active children and adults, as well as those with asthma and other respiratory conditions to limit their exertion.
Osage and Pawnee counties draw the western border. The risk area runs from the Kansas line down to Muskogee County.
Erin Hatfield, a spokeswoman for the Department of Environmental Quality, said the area had fires Wednesday. Atmospheric conditions kept that smoke from rising into the air and spreading out, so instead those particles lingered. Rain is expected in the coming days and should clear it out.
