Oklahoma City Thunder Point Guard Russell Westbrook won the NBA’s Most Valuable Player Award Monday night.
Westbrook thanked his family, the Thunder organization and Oklahoma City fans.
“You guys have been riding with me since day one, you guys have been riding with me through good games and bad games, always there lifting me up, so I’m just so thankful for all the fans there” Westbrook said.
Westbrook broke the single season triple double record, reaching double digits in points scored, rebounds and assists in 42 games this season. He was the first to average a triple double on the season in 45 years.

In his acceptance speech, he called his teammates in attendance to the stage. "These are my brothers, man,” he said.
“These guys sacrifice so much for me throughout the year. It was obviously an amazing season for me. But without these guys, and the rest of our guys who aren’t here, none of this is possible.”

Westbrook also took home fan awards for the “Game Winner of the Year” and “Best Style of the Season.”
The Thunder’s Victor Oladipo won the fan award for the “Dunk of The Year.”
Earlier in the day, Andre Roberson was named to the NBA's All-Defensive Second Team.
