491 New COVID-19 Infections In Oklahoma

491 new infections of the coronavirus were confirmed in Oklahoma on Wednesday, for a total of 433,516 positive cases since March 2020. In the past seven days, Oklahoma has reported 3,266 new cases for an average of 467 infections per day.
Oklahoma's Provisional Death Count, which reflects COVID deaths based on death certificates, now stands at 7,610. That's an increase of 42 from the day before.

Oklahoma recently has started using the Provisional Death Count to report death statistics and become more in line with reporting from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Previously, Oklahoma's reported death count was about 2,500 deaths shy of what the CDC was reporting.

On Wednesday, the Oklahoma State Department of Health announced a number of changes have been made, starting this week, to the state’s COVID-19 data dashboard.

Health officials say that after a year of reporting daily numbers that now is a good time to switch to weekly reporting, with data being updated on Wednesdays. The data that is being impacted by the changes includes immunization data and CDC data, as well as OSDH case investigation data. The latter includes recovered cases and active cases.

A daily case number will still be included Monday through Friday in the Situation Update email.

There are also plans by state health leaders to change the date of the Weekly Epidemiology report distribution, Alert Map updates and when weekly vaccine data is refreshed. Those reports will also be published weekly on Wednesdays and will reflect the previous week’s data.
