The Oklahoma State Department of Health says there are now 17 positive cases of COVID-19 in the state. At this time the test results conducted through OSDH public health laboratory are sent to the ordering physician or submitting clinical facility. Test status and results are not provided over the phone.
If someone tests positive, public health officials initiate an investgation. OSDH said testing materials remain in short supply. Health officials still recommend people to consult their physician or public health professional about their symptoms such as fever, cough and shortness of breath.
Clinicians may recommending testing for the flu before testing for COVID-19. People who are uninsured may call 211 for community resources.
There have also been 247 people who have tested negative.
Oklahoma County has the most cases in the state with 6 people. Tulsa County has 3 cases. Canadian and Kay counties both have 2 cases. Payne, Pawnee, Cleveland and Jackson counties all have one case each.
