13 New Deaths, 918 New COVID-19 Cases In Oklahoma

New cases of COVID-19 increased by 918 on Wednesday, with the state's total now at 28,065. Oklahoma health officials continue to work through a backlog of cases and state that today's cases total "includes confirmed cases identified as part of the backlog associated with system outages over the past few days."
There were also 13 new deaths reported, bringing the state's total to 474. Two of the new deaths were identified in the past 24 hours. They are as follows:

  • Five in Oklahoma County, three female and two males all in the 65 or older age group.
  • Three in McCurtain County, one female and two males in the 65 or older age group.
  • Two in Muskogee County, one female and one male in the 65 or older age group.
  • Two in Tulsa County, one female in the 36 - 49 age group and one male in the 65 or older age group.
  • One in Seminole County, one male in the 65 or older age group.

Oklahoma has totaled 5,252 new cases of the coronavirus in the past seven days, an average of 750 per day.
20,663 people — more than 78 percent of the total cases — have since been classified as having recovered from the virus. 630 Oklahomans are currently hospitalized as either confirmed positive COVID-19 cases or under investigation for the virus.

Demographic information on positive cases is currently incomplete. The health department expects that to be remedied in the coming week.
