U.S. House appointments
Rep. Tom Cole
Rep. Tom Cole, R-Moore, will continue as the House Committee on Appropriations chair. The appropriation committee is made up of dozens of lawmakers and decides how much money federal agencies and programs receive.
He has been on the committee since 2009, served as its vice chair and became chairman of the full committee in 2024, according to the committee’s website.
Cole said in a press release that the new Congress's “American First” commitment will better the nation, and it’s critical to provide a strong fiscal framework.
“By concentrating on the challenges and opportunities ahead of us, I see progress that will herald us into the golden years of America,” Cole said. “One where stagnation will be replaced by growth, submissive governance will be transformed into bold leadership, and the dreams of everyday Americans will once again feel within reach.”
Rep. Frank Lucas
Rep. Frank Lucas, R-Cheyenne, is returning to a leadership role in the House Committee on Agriculture to chair the Conservation, Research and Biotechnology Subcommittee.
In recent years, he has been a member of the agriculture committee, having served as its chairman from 2011 to 2015.
Lucas has also been appointed to chair a new House Financial Services Committee task force. In a press release, he said leading the Monetary Policy, Treasury Market Resilience, and Economic Prosperity Task Force would be an honor.
“This Task Force will examine monetary policy tools and structural changes to identify opportunities for meaningful reform to the U.S. Treasury markets to safeguard its essential role in the global financial system,” Lucas said.
Rep. Stephanie Bice
Rep. Stephanie Bice, R-Oklahoma City, will serve as vice chair of the Transportation, Housing and Urban Development and Related Agencies Subcommittee of the House Appropriations Committee.
Bice said in a release that she is humbled to be the subcommittee's vice chair.
“Serving on the Appropriations Committee allows me to ensure that the needs of Oklahoma’s Fifth District are met while working to cut wasteful and inefficient federal spending,” Bice said. “I want to thank my friend, Chairman Tom Cole, for his leadership and support. I look forward to delivering results for my constituents.”
This Congress, Bice is also tapped to chair the Modernization & Innovation subcommittee within the larger House Administration Committee.

Rep. Josh Brecheen
Rep. John Brecheen, R-Colgate, will chair the Oversight, Investigations and Accountability Subcommittee through the Committee on Homeland Security.
Brecheen was a committee member this past Congress and said in a press release that he was honored to have the position, especially with the dawn of the Trump Administration.
“From defending taxpayer dollars to reducing inefficient bureaucracy, we have a crucial mission to clean up the Biden-Harris administration’s mess,” Brecheen said. “Now is the time to restore DHS’s mission to secure the homeland and America’s borders. The safety and security of our communities depend on it.”
Rep. Kevin Hern
Rep. Kevin Hern, R- Tulsa, will serve as the Republican Policy Committee Chair and serve on the Ways and Means Committee. In a press release, Hern said the first 100 days of Congress are critical.
“Republicans have a mandate to turn this country around, and we’re ready to deliver,” Hern said. “As Republican Policy Committee Chairman and a member of House Republican Leadership, I’m committed to working with my colleagues to shape the policies that drive President Trump’s America First agenda that puts our country back on track.”
U.S. Senate appointments
Sen. James Lankford
Republican Sen. James Lankford is again chairing the Senate Select Ethics Committee after serving as its vice chair.
Lankford was appointed as chairman in late 2019.
Sen. Markwayne Mullin
Republican Sen. Markwayne Mullin will serve on the Appropriations, Armed Services and Indian Affairs Committees and the Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions.
