One Small Step: Marc and Kristin

One Small Step Marc and Kristin split

One Small Step participants Kristin McAtee and Marc Dreyer met for the first time virtually in late October.

In their conversation they talked at length about faith and their journeys to becoming pastors. McAtee is an associate pastor and Dreyer was a pastor for 39 years.

We paired them due to their differences in political identification, their similar experiences as being leaders within church settings and their desire to have a productive conversation with someone different from themselves.

McAtee describes herself as moderate but generally left-leaning. Dreyer describes himself as conservative with some moderate tendencies.

KOSU's Kateleigh Mills and Matthew Viriyapah co-produced this piece. StoryCorps’ One Small Step is made possible in part by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, a private corporation funded by the American people.

Oklahoma City became one of four communities in the country anchoring the One Small Step program into 2022.  You can learn more here.
