The inaugural seven-episode season of a new public radio music program will debut on KOSU this Sunday at 6 p.m. It will air throughout October and November.
Live From Cain's is taped at the historic Cain's Ballroom in Tulsa, Oklahoma and features live performances by national and Oklahoma musicians.
Co-hosted by Paul Thorn and Paul Benjaman, the show aims to rekindle the energy of early day radio from the Cain's stage, where Bob Wills and his Texas Playboys entertained radio audiences from coast-to-coast in the 1930s and 1940s.
Guest performers include:
- Oct. 17: Paul Thorn
- Oct. 24: Shemekia Copeland
- Oct. 31: Bobby Rush
- Nov. 7: Shannon McNally
- Nov. 14: Curley Taylor & Zydeco Trouble
- Nov. 21: Joy Harjo
- Nov. 28: Tori Ruffin and Freak Juice
The show also features performances by Oklahoma musicians like John Fullbright, Jacob Tovar, Jesse Aycock, Paul Benjaman and Pilgrim.
Folk Alley will be preempted by the debut of this special show, but will return to KOSU's airwaves on Dec. 5 at its normal time slot.
