The Morning Benders On World Cafe

The Morning Benders' 2008 debut, Talking Through Tin Cans, was named the best indie/alternative album of that year by iTunes, and the band's three members -- Chris Chu, Julian Harmon and Tim Or -- subsequently toured with a variety of well-known acts, including Grizzly Bear, The Kooks, Death Cab for Cutie, Ra Ra Riot,MGMT, Yeasayer, and The Submarines.

The California group's latest record, Big Echo, came out in March. Co-produced by Grizzly Bear's Chris Taylor, the disc assembles a wall of sound using a plethora of instruments and beautifully layered vocals. There's no question that Grizzly Bear's mixing played an influential part in the construction of Big Echo, and that's a good thing. Here, the band re-creates its songs live in a studio session at WXPN's World Cafe.
