There's an undeniable intimacy to in-studio interviews, thanks in part to the theater of the mind that radio creates. It was just me, Amos Lee and his guitar when he came to WFUV to perform songs from his third album, Last Days at the Lodge. These stripped-down versions bring a new perspective to his work, and his voice — wow, that voice — sounded so natural and so real. It was great, also, to hear some of the stories behind the songs.
More About Amos Lee
Amos Lee didn't begin his career in music, but instead worked as a second-grade teacher in Philadelphia. And, as with other unexpected success stories, Norah Jones heard his music. Injecting his love of soul music into his acoustic singer-songwriter fare, Lee soon found himself opening for the likes of Bob Dylan, Paul Simon and Merle Haggard. His new, third album is titled Last Days at the Lodge.
