Mike Doughty Navigates 'Stars at Night'

Mike Doughty is likely best known as the former frontman of Soul Coughing, the "deep slacker jazz" group spawned in 1992. After the band's late-'90s breakup, the singer-songwriter launched a solo career, driving from state to state in a rented car, playing gigs all across the country, and selling copies of his 2000 album Skittish.

Doughty's 2005 album Haughty Melodic featured studio versions of many songs from the live Smofe + Smang CD, as well as the hit song "Looking at the World from the Bottom of a Well." The song appeared on high-profile TV shows, including Grey's Anatomy, and helped lay the groundwork for Doughty's hotly anticipated new Golden Delicious.
