Aaron Schroeder: 'Fake Crimes'

Aaron Schroeder
Aaron Schroeder

Although Aaron Schroeder's wikipedia page jokes that he's inspired by traditional American grunge and modern hard rock, the Kennewick, WA songwriter actually creates brilliant pop rock with elements of folk, country, and glam.

His album, Black & Gold, contains plenty of upbeat, catchy refrains embellished with vibraphone, mandolin, lap steel, and piano. On the featured song "Fake Crimes", the chorus enters with Aaron singing "I want you to be very alone / to be very alone without this" while horns play the melody giving the song a serious boost.

Schroeder says, "I wanted the album to have a big and full sound while at the same time, still maintaining a level of vulnerability that rock records often lack". The album was recorded with the help of notable guests Ben Barnett (Kind Of Like Spitting) and Justin Meldal-Johnsen (Beck, Air).

Aaron continues to write and record several demos and ideas. He's already started work on his third album and says that he has no plans to slow down.
