The Oklahoma City Council will consider a resolution calling for a ceasefire in Gaza on Tuesday.

The resolution, which condemns anti-Semitic, anti-Palestinian, Islamaphobic, xenophobic rhetoric and attacks, was requested by Councilmembers Nikki Nice and JoBeth Hamon.

According to Palestinian Health Authorities, more than 39,000 people have been killed and 2.3 million people have been displaced from their homes since the war began.

The resolution states that Oklahoma City is “dedicated to fostering a community that embraces diversity, values all life and upholds the principles of equality and all human rights” and condemns the acts of violence aimed at Israeli and Palestinian citizens.

The resolution comes following many calls from Jewish and Palestinians residents for city leaders to respond.
