Traffic Delays at Will Rogers World Airport

Construction at one of Oklahoma’s busiest airports could impact thousands of visitors every day.

Crews at Will Rogers World Airport are working on Terminal Drive – the main roadway in and out of the facility – resulting in lane closures, slowdowns and possible detours.

Spokesperson Karen Carney is urging travelers and workers to be aware of the work from the terminal all the way to Southwest 54th Street in Oklahoma City.

“Slow down. Give yourself a little extra time. We’re adjusting signage as we see what people are doing. So, just be cognizant of the project and use safety and precaution.”

Carney says work on the roadway is expected to last for about eight months – weather permitting – and, hopefully, be completed in time for the summer travel.

She says the $4.5 million project is needed as Terminal Drive has seen deterioration from increased car and bus traffic over the past 20 years.

Airport officials recommend allowing an additional 15 to 20 minutes to navigate the construction.
