Oklahoma health officials reported the largest single-day increase of cases of COVID-19 on Friday with 1,524. That is excluding the July 21st report, which included a backlog of cases. The state has seen a total of 97,088 positive cases since March.
There were also six new deaths reported, bringing the state's total to 1,091. They are as follows:
- One in Canadian County, one male in the 50 - 64 age group.
- One in Grady County, one male in the 65 or older age group.
- One in Muskogee County, one male in the 65 or older age group.
- One in Ottawa County, one female in the 50 - 64 age group.
- One in Payne County, one male in the 36 - 49 age group.
- One in Tulsa County, one male in the 65 or older age group.
A record of 749 Oklahomans are currently hospitalized as either confirmed positive COVID-19 cases or under investigation for the virus. That breaks another record that was set earlier this week.
Oklahoma has reported 7,402 new cases and 47 deaths due to the coronavirus in the past seven days, an average of 1,057 cases and seven deaths per day.
82,482 people — more than 84 percent of the total cases — have since been classified as having recovered from the virus.
There are 13,515 active cases in the state.
